LEAD SCHOOL COUNSELOR

IMG_1899.jpg

Hi, my name is Ms. Cavelle Gonga! I am the lead the school counselor here at Northeast Elementary School. In pursuing this profession I achieved my B.S. in Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University, and I received my M.S. in School Counseling from Austin Peay State University. My greatest wish as a school counselor is that every child is awarded the right to an equitable education. My promise as a school counselor is to advocate on behalf of all of our students, as well as, address data-proven inequities to ultimately foster systematic change.

My ultimate goal for all students I encounter in the school setting is to work to help them prepare for the life that is beyond the school walls. Our school counseling program works to provide students with both social and cultural competence, as well as, serve as a liaison between the students’ home and their school environment. My dedication to the children speaks to my genuine love and appreciation for student success. By providing social-emotional support, counseling, and mentoring, and ultimately being an advocate for the students, I hope to be an agent of change for not only the counseling profession but also for the underserved youth.

Cheers to a great year!
